What inspired you to design jeweller?

I am a third generation jeweller, my family has been in the jewellery business for 70+ years, so it was a natural progression for me into the trade. I started working with my dad when I was 18 and soon realised that I had a keen passion and a desire to learn the intricacies of the business and look at new and innovative ways to create extraordinary pieces.

How do you keep your designs original?

We take pride in bringing pioneering concepts in jewellery. We keep up with latest trends, while also not losing our focus and strengths in hand crafted workmanship. SJ also relies on the feedback from our clients to create new and interesting pieces.

How would you describe your Brand / Products?

Stonewell Jewellery specialise in meticulously designed and hand crafted bespoke jewellery, combining modern innovation and age old techniques to create one of a kind pieces in platinum, white and yellow gold studded with certified diamonds, precious and semi-precious stones. Stonewell Jewellery’s modern production house is dedicated to providing a customised design service, with an experienced team of goldsmiths.

What draws you to Sri Lanka’s precious and semi-precious stones?

We are blessed here in Sri Lanka to have plethora of readily available natural gemstones in an array of vibrant colours. Their kaleidoscope of colours making it easy to mix and match precious and semi-precious stones and include diamonds to create new and interesting pieces of jewellery.

Are you inspired to design pieces for a certain type of woman? Who is she?

Our clients are fashion forward, stylish and confident and are not afraid of the bold use of colours. Which makes it easy to create fun and interesting pieces by mixing and matching semi-precious and precious stones to create individual pieces that represent their personalities and style!

Do you have a favourite piece/collection and why?

I don’t have any particular favourites. Each piece that we produce is distinctive and special in its own way.

What is your favourite Sri Lankan gem stone and why?

My favourite Sri Lankan gemstone is Aquamarine. I love its colour and hues .
